Blessed

This past weekend Victoria and I reached 8 months of living in Los Angeles. Before we moved across country we constantly reminded each other of the verse Jeremiah 29:11 to ease our fears of the unknown. Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Since we have gotten to Los Angeles we have seen how God can really give you more than you can ask or imagine. We had no idea we be so blessed in such a short time.

One of the biggest blessings has been an amazing group of friends. Earlier tonight we had a chance to hang out with many of our friends and celebrate Heewon's birthday. Here are a few of my favorite photos from tonight.

Heewon and her husband Peter

I also had a chance to take some images of my wife Victoria with the two other pregnant women in our group. Left to right: Victoria (19 weeks), My wife Victoria (24 weeks), Corrie (28 weeks).

Here are some portraits of these amazing women.

Some of the women had fun using a football the pretend they were pregnant. I am not sure what Peter is doing here but Jeanie showed us how scared she is for when that time comes.

Some of the guys

Lisa and Dan are so much fun.

Hotel Bel Air

This past Monday I had the chance to photograph an event at Hotel Bel Air for Moet Hennessy. I am very thankful for the amazing photographer, Claire Barrett, for sending me this referral. I can't thank her enough and hope to return the favor one day. I had a chance to work with Jeff Brown and his amazing team at Brown Hot Events. Jeff and his team pulled off an amazing event and made me feel so welcome and part of their team.

Here are some of the details from the day.

I did get the chance to have lunch at the restaurant at Hotel Bel Air thanks to Jeff. I didn't see any celebrities but I am kind of glad. I was carrying around my Canon 5D with my 70-200 f/2.8L IS lens attached and I was a little afraid that if I did see someone famous they would think I was a paparazzi. I had visions of being tackled by their posse before I could even say hello and how much I love their work. Taking their picture would be the last thing on my mind.

Augusto & Sandra - 6/7/08

On Saturday night I had the pleasure of photographing Augusto and Sandra's wedding at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum. The ceremony and reception were beautiful. The ceremony took place in the North American Mammal Hall and the reception was in the African Mammal Hall. I am so glad I could be there to capture their special day. I rented a Canon 24mm F/1.4L lens for the night. After some of the images I got with this lens I was sad when I had to return it. It will definitely be the next lens I purchase.

Sandra right after getting her dress on. She made a stunning bride.

The Ceremony

Some portraits. I just loved the light on the next two shots. I can't decide which I like more the image with the 24mm or my 85mm f/1.2L.

With the Canon 24mm f/1.4L

With the Canon 85mm f/1.2L II

We had to get pictures with the dinosaurs.

Some Details

Once again I am stuck between which image I like better. The one with the 85mm f/1.2L or the one with the 24mm f/1.4L

With the 24mm f/1.4L

One last wave goodbye before they head off and enjoy married life.

October is coming fast

We found out earlier today we that we only need to consider boy names for our first child. It's a boy!!!

Matt & Gretchen - 5/30/08

Last Friday I was in Bensalem, PA to shoot Matt & Gretchen's wedding. You may remember their engagement session that I posted about on my blog back in March. Matt and I used to work together at Lockheed Martin. A little after he took position in another office with Lockheed, he sent me an email telling me he was going to propose and wanted me to be their wedding photographer. It feels like it was so long ago when I got that email. Even after moving across the country this past fall they still wanted me as their photographer. I am so thankful that they brought me back east for a few days to be a part of their wedding day.

I wish Matt and Gretchen many happy years together and a safe trip to Las Vegas. I hope they win big! Other than a little heat and humidity it was a perfect day.

My day started by meeting up with Gretchen and the other women at a salon to get their hair done.

Next I headed back to the hotel to capture Gretchen finishing getting ready.

The ceremony

Off to the reception and some portraits.

Gretchen made a stunning bride!

Matt cleaned up pretty well.
